Sergeant William Sands

William Sands was an enlisted member of the First Maryland Regiment, 7th Co. In an August 22 letter to his parents in Annapolis, MD, he described his anxious mood while awaiting the British in Brooklyn. Sands fought in the Battle of Brooklyn at Shore Road Pass and the Old Stone House, where among others of the Maryland 400 he was killed.
