Phebe Bloom

Phebe Bloom was the daughter of a Dutch farmer at a time when Brooklyn was mostly farms and wildnerness. A year after the Battle of Brooklyn, at the age of 17, she married Charles Turnbull, an American military officer from Pennsylvania. She remained in Brooklyn while Charles went to combat and prayed in her letters to hear from him. The couple had at least one child, and inherrited the Bloom family farm after the war.
